Imre Varga was born by lake Balaton, in Siófok, in 1923. As a sculptor, he could breathe life into sheet metal like very few can. He was a favored sculptor under the 'goulash communism' of János Kádár, but his career did not end with the fall of communism. It is a characteristic of his work to depict heroes in every day’s life situations.
The garden of the museum hosts larger monuments, among them, the Derkovits statue.
