The building is a splendid baroque palace, built in the 18th century, surrounded by a very nice, well-kept park. The temporary exhibition, "The History of Furniture Art from Gothic to Biedermeier", belongs to the Museum of Applied Arts. The exhibition spans time from 15th to the 19th century, and displays over three hundred items.
The castle presents furniture in an appropriate setting; the individual pieces and suites can be seen in 27 of the castle's rooms. The arrangement is tailored to the castle's architecture, and follows the history of European furniture in chronological order. As the various stylistic periods are presented, the history of applied arts unfolds by means of individual masterpieces.
